Mario Zanetti, 20, was born on 9 January 1892 at Poschiavo, Kanton Graubünden, Switzerland. Together with his friends Abele Rigozzi and Alessandro Pedrini he was employed by Luigi Gatti to sail on the Titanic, his first ship. He signed-on on 6 April and began work on the Titanic on the same day. His wages were £2 2s per month (plus tip).

Zanetti died in the sinking. His body, if recovered, never was identified.

He left his 44 year old mother Margherita Zanetti-Mengotti, two brothers (21 and 22) and a sister (18). His mother lived in Geneva.
