Mother, saved, now in N.Y. hospital send message to Grace Church Rector.
Rossmore and Eugene Abbott, the two sons of Mrs Rosa, Abbott, of this city, who is now at the New York hospital as a result of injuries and exposure she suffered after the wreck of the Titanic, perished when the liner sank off the Newfoundland Banks.
Mrs Abbott is still confined to the hospital from the effect of her experience. She was reported at 1:00 o'clock this afternoon as resting comfortably.
Ever since the survivors of the Titanic were bought assure from the Carpathia Thursday night, efforts have been made to discover who Mrs Abbott was, but she was in such a state of nervousness and exhaustion, that the staff correspondent of the evening bulletin could not get her street address, or any facts about her, as the attendants dared not question her closely.
Today, she was better, and asked that a telegram be sent to Rev. F.W. Crowder of Grace Church, her pastor, telling him where she was and informing him of her condition.
As soon as this word was received deaconess, Von Brockdorff got into communication with the New York Hospital where she is well known, and talked with them about the case and the condition of Mrs Abbott. She found that the woman would soon be well enough to be moved and arranged that when it was deemed feasible to do, so, the hospital authorities would notify her of the fact.
Mrs Abbott has no providence address, but formally lived at 1 Gould Place, off Broad Street. She has supported herself and her sons by sewing. About a year ago, she broke up her home there and went to board on Broad Street for a time and then decided that she would return to England to her parents.
Just before Easter, Miss Von Brockdorff received a letter from her in which she said that both of the boys were homesick for Providence and that she was going to return with them. Nothing more was heard from her until the telegram came from New York.
The oldest boy was a member of the choir at Grace church and was about 12, while the other boy was some two years younger. Neither was brought in on the Carpathia, and it is concluded. They perished when the Titanic went down.
