Mr Carl / Charles Peter Widegren, 51, was born 6 March 1861 in Algutsrum, Öland Island, Sweden.
Widegren, a sailor, later settled in New York. He was married to Edit Söderlund (address: c/o Mrs Ericson, Garfield Avenue, Jamaica South, Long Island) and his son Carl Edvard Widegren lived in Algutsrum. The son, later a carpenter, was born in North Sheath, England, but lived with Fredrik and Emma Carlsson in Algutsrum. Carl had been visiting them and the son and was on his way home to New York when he boarded the Titanic at Southampton as a third class passenger . According to a letter from the consulate to ministry of foreign affairs, he owned a house in Algutsrum.
Widegren died in the sinking, his body, if recovered, was never identified.
The Mansion House Fund paid 1329.33 Kr (£73) to the son, 23 January 1913. 3188.50 Kr (£175) damage claims were paid 10 June 1914. Both sum to be held in thrust by A. F. Carlsson, the son's guardian.
