Mr Carl Friedrich Heinrich Tietz, was born in Rostock, Mecklenburg, Germany in 11 April 1885,¹ the son of Robert Carl Ludwig Tietz (1858-1904) and his wife Bertha Sophia Maria (née Hoff, 1862-1888).  He had three full siblings. Kar's mother died in 1888 and his father remarried to Antonie Bertha Frieda Pietté with whom he had a further seven children.

He signed on to the Titanic as C. Tietz on 6 April, he came aboard on 10 April.

His previous ship was the Olympic.  His last address was: Richmond Tavern, Bridge Road, Southampton.

Tietz died in the sinking. His body, if recovered, was never identified.
