Daniel Milford

Mr Daniel Milford was born at 4 Dalton Street in Belfast, Ireland on 2 May 1889. Hailing from a Presbyterian family, he was the son of David Milford, a fisherman, and Agnes Douglas and he had seven brothers and sisters.

Daniel is shown as a schoolboy on the 1901 census when the family were living at 29 Park Avenue in east Belfast. By the time of the 1911 census the family were residing at 28 Kincora Street, Belfast but Daniel was not listed and was presumably at sea at the time.

Milford’s ship prior to Titanic had been the Dewdrop. He joined Titanic at Belfast for the delivery trip to Southampton where he then disembarked.

On 2 April 1913 Daniel married Lily Ritchie, leaving the seas soon after to work as a rigger. The couple went on to raise a family and they remained in Belfast. Daniel spent his last days living at 63 Kyle Street in the city and he died on 8 May 1958. He and his wife are buried together in Roselawn Cemetery at plot D-167.
