Peter McKinney

Mr Peter McKinney was reportedly born in Belfast, Ireland on 4 May 1874.1 He was the son of Patrick McKinney, a labourer. 

Peter served on merchant ships before joining with the Royal Naval Reserve. 

McKinney’s ship prior to Titanic had been the Olympic. He joined Titanic at Belfast for the delivery trip to Southampton where he then disembarked.

Whilst a resident of 19 Foundry Street and described as a sailor, Peter was married in St Matthew’s Church, Belfast on 8 August 1914 to Sarah McDowell. 

Peter McKinney died in Belfast on 8 May 1928 aged 53.

  1. Date as per his RNR records. No birth record can be identified for him and he gave conflicting ages over the years.
