Mr Rinaldo Ricaldone was born 20 September 1889 in the military hospital in Alessandria, Italy, the son of Giovanni Battista Ricaldone and Giuseppina Grappiola.
When he signed on to the Titanic, on 6 April 1912, he gave his address as 50 Greek Street, Soho London. The Titanic was his first ship. He boarded the Titanic on 10 April.
Ricaldone died in the sinking
It has long been understood that his body was never recovered. But, a letter from the White Star Line dated August 20, 1912 mentions the effects of "R. Ricardona, Restaurant Waiter" being forwarded to the Soton Superintendent. This can only be a reference to Ricaldone. He is not on the list of identified bodies so, unless there is some other explanation, he must be among those of the unidentified bodies, possibly #219.
Notes
The 1911 census lists a 24-year-old, Italian-born man named Rinaldo Ricaldone as a hatter's blocker at a felt hat works, living as a boarder at 5 Chelmsford Road, Stockport Cheshire. It is unknown if this is the same person as the Titanic waiter.
